DATA COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER NETWORK

UNIT-I

Introduction to computer network:
Advantages of network,structure of the communitation networks,point to point and multi,drop circuit,data flow and physical circuit,network topologies and design goals, switch and non-switch options,chanel speed bit rate,voice communication and analog wave from,band width and frequincy spectrum,digital signal,modem synchronous and asynontonous, transmissions, communication,among computers.Traffic control and accountability,LAN and WAN, connection orianted and connection less networks, clasification of communication protocals,time division multiple access,time division multiflexing, carrier sence system. token passing,carrier sence system token passing, priority system.

UNIT-II

Layered protocols network and osi model,goals of layered protocols network design problems, communication between layers, layers of osi,osi status,pooling/selection protocols; character and bit protocol and binary synchronous protocols(ssc) formats and control course HDLC,HDLC options,HDLC frame format code transparence and synchronization,HDLC control field,commands and rospnses HDLC transmission process,HDLC subsets.

UNIT-III

Local area network;primary attributes of LAN broad band and base band LAN,IEEE LAN standards,relationships of 802 standards to the ISO/CCITT model; connection option with LANs LLC and MAC protocols,data unit LAN topologies and protocols CSMA/CD and IELE 802.3,collision, token ring (priority),IEEE802.5,priority sceme, token bus and IEEE802.4     switching and routing.

UNIT-IV

TCP/IP,TCP/IP and internetworking,TCP/IP operations and sockets IP address structure,major features of IP,IP datagram,major IP services.IP source routing value of transport layer. TCP major features of TCP,passive and active opens,transmission control blocks (TCP),TCP segments, user datagram protocols(UDP) route discovery protocol,application,layer protocol,personel computer as a server,linking the PC to main frame computer, file transfer is personnel computers, personnel computers and     local area network.

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

UNIT-I

Introduction to software engineering: software development life cycle,classical waterfall model,iterative waterfall     model,priority ping model,evolutionary model,sprial model,comparsion of the models.

UNIT-II

Software project management:planning,project estimssion,COCOMO,project scheduling,risk management,software     confrigation management.

UNIT-III

Requirement analysis and specification,SRS software-design cohesion and compling,software design approaches
    function-oriented &object-oriented design UML,use case diagram,class diagram, and interaction diagram.

UNIT-IV

Use-interfaces design conding&teating, unit teating black-box testing;white-box testing.integration testing and systeam testing.

UNIT-I

Book keeping and accounting:Meaning of book keeping and accounting,accounting concept and convention,accounting equation,accounting prosidure and practical system of book keeping journal,ledger,cash book and subsidiary book,banking     trasaction and reconciliation statement,trail balance and final accountings,deprecation.

UNIT-II

Introduction to finalcial management goals and key activations relationship of finance to accounting.Basics of capital budgeting coast and benefits ,investment appraisal creteria,net present value,benifit and cost ratio,internet rate of return,pay back period     and accounting rate of return.

UNIT-III

Long term financing,retaining earnings,equity,preference and debenture capital loan,pablic issue,right issue,private placement     and financial institution.

UNIT-IV

Elemant of working capital management,inventory management and working capital financing,entry of financing,entry of     financing trasaction and prepasition of trial balance by using one of the commercially available accounting packages such as TCS-EX packge.
